What a speed garden tidy actually covers
The Speed Garden Tidy is the one-visit version of what would otherwise be three separate calls. We turn up with mowers, strimmers, and hand-pull tools; the lawn gets mown, the edges get trimmed, and the bed gets a proper weed. It is built for the gardens that have got just a little bit ahead of their owners, not so far gone that they need a full Overgrown Lawn Rescue, but enough that a regular mow on its own would not catch up.
What this Ash garden looked like
A nice back garden behind a bungalow in Ash, just off the village green. Two lawn panels split by a concrete path, a rotary clothes-line over one of them, mature borders along the right-hand side with a flowering yellow shrub at the far end, and an archway of garden ornaments by the back fence. The lawn was about a fortnight overdue. The borders had a flush of new weed growth that was about to get away. Nothing dramatic, just the kind of state that nags at you every time you walk past the kitchen window.
The hour, broken down
- 0–20 min · Mower out, both lawn panels cut on a sensible blade height, then turned and re-passed at 90° so any missed clumps got picked up. Stripes set up nicely on this one, the path made a useful straight reference.
- 20–35 min · Strimmer along the path edges, around the clothes-line base, and tight up against the borders. That edge work is where the lawn looks most cared-for, and it costs about £15 of the visit on its own.
- 35–55 min · Hand-pulling weeds out of the right-hand bed. Roots out, not just tops, pulling them is half the job, and getting the dock and dandelion roots out before they re-grow is the bit that does the most work for the next month.
- 55–60 min · Bag the cuttings, sweep the path, double-check the lawn for any stragglers. Out by the hour mark.
And the £5 tip
The customer came out as we were loading up. Big smile, said it looked like a different garden, handed us a fiver. Doesn't happen every visit, and it always means a lot, the team takes that home. To be fair, it is the bit of this job nobody puts on a price list, but it is one of the reasons we keep doing the small visits cheerfully.
If your garden has got just-a-bit-ahead
If you have a garden in Ash, Sandwich, Deal, Eastry, Worth, Woodnesborough, or anywhere across the East Kent villages, and it has slipped to the "needs a couple of jobs in one go" stage, the Speed Garden Tidy is built exactly for that. We bring everything in one visit, knock all three things off the list, and the garden goes back on a sensible regular cycle afterwards.
