Long shaggy back lawn near Walmer before mowing, with stepping stones and brick edging mostly hidden by overgrown grass

Before — the day we arrived. Stepping stones nearly buried, brick edges lost in the grass.

The job

The homeowner is putting the property on the market and had the estate agent's photographer booked in. The back lawn had run away with itself over the warm spell and needed pulling back to "ready to photograph" in a single visit. No follow-up cuts, no fortnightly slot — one visit, get it right, leave the garden looking how a buyer would want to see it.

What we did

  • Full back-lawn mow, dropped right down from the overgrown height
  • Strimming around the stepping-stone path, brick edging and pergola posts
  • Edges tidied around the planters, patio and back fence line
  • All cuttings cleared so nothing showed up in the listing photos

After — stepping stones and brick path back on show down the centre of the lawn.

Why timing matters before a photographer visit

Listing photos do most of the heavy lifting on a property sale. A back garden that reads as "tidy, usable, ready to move into" lifts the whole listing; one that reads as "another job for the new owner" weighs it down. The difference between those two photos is often a single visit at the right time — a few days before the photographer, not three weeks before, so the cut is fresh on the day the camera comes out.

After — the brick path detail and planters, now reading clean rather than overgrown.

After — looking down the brick path, lawn cut close on either side.
